Greatham Church of England Primary School’s Eco Team work tirelessly across school to ensure our school and local community get involved with exciting environmental projects.
In Eco we have been looking at our nine topics which are Energy, Water, Global Citizenship, Water, Biodiversity, School Grounds, Healthy Living, Transport and Litter.
So far this year, we have been gardening, weeding, planting vegetables and flowers, litter picking in the village, making bug hotels and den building in the nature garden. We also had a picnic in our den one lunchtime!
The children picked all our blackcurrants from the garden and Mrs Sotheran made lots of jam with it. Every child in the school enjoyed some bread and butter with homemade jam! Yum!
We have hosted a Fairtrade Breakfast which was free for everyone to attend as part of Fairtrade Fortnight and our club delivered a worship to inform the whole school and parents/carers of the importance of Fairtrade.
This term, we are going to plan what we want to plant in our beds as well as making bird feeders to keep the birds fed over winter.
We currently hold the Eco-Schools Green Flag award for our exceptional work to improve the environment.
